About Riverhill Farm's New Friend of the Farm Card:

We are very excited to announce our new plans for the 2012 farm season!

For the coming season, we will not be offering CSA subscription box shares. Instead, we are providing an alternative to CSA shares that will increase your access to our farm fresh products and provide you more flexibility in buying the amount and variety of produce you receive.

Here are the highlights:

A new Riverhill Farm "Friend of the Farm Card" is available in three values to meet your individual needs and your household size.
Use your card like a debit card to buy Riverhill produce at the Saturday Nevada City Farmers' Market.
Use your card during weekly open hours at our farmstand at the farm where you can take advantage of u-pick produce and our weekly list of available produce. Our farm season will run from June to November (and we'll announce it by email).
Use it for bulk purchases for canning or special orders.
Receive our weekly blog with weekly produce availability list and recipes.
Receive 10% increased value if you purchase your card before March 31, 2012.
If you exceed the value of your card before the end of the season, you can always use cash or checks to purchase your produce.
Any remaining balances at the end of the season may be carried over for use the following season.

After five successful years providing CSA shares to our community, we have decided that we can better meet the demands of our community for local fresh produce by offering a more flexible alternative to subscription box CSA shares. Many of you have commented that the volume of produce we've provided in our CSA shares is too great for your household size, and some of you have said you'd like to have the flexibility of shopping at the Nevada City Farmers' Market, where you'll be able to choose what to buy and how much to buy while enjoying the music and community the market provides. Some of you would like to shop for your produce more than once per week, or want more flexibility for travel and vacations. This card will also allow you to get exactly the type and amount of produce you want every week of the season. You've been talking to us about your needs and we've been listening!

In order to better serve your needs, we're going to switch to The Friend of The Farm card as an alternative to CSA this year. By purchasing your Farm Card, you will still be providing us the early season income and support that is essential to our survival as a small, family farm. You'll still have the option to come to the farm to enjoy picking strawberries, raspberries and blackberries along with cherry tomatoes and other seasonal u-pick options, and you'll be able to use your card at the farm to purchase what's seasonally available from our fields that week, picked fresh that day, just like our CSA. We plan to have the farm stand open on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30-6:00. We're also planning a very special "Second Sunday" farm stand event once each month. If you like, you'll have the opportunity to bring a picnic and enjoy an old-time music jam as you pick and shop for your produce on the second Sundays of each month during the season.

And, you'll also be able to use your Friend of the Farm card at our stand at the Saturday Nevada City Farmers' Market. The same card can also be used for special orders and bulk purchases from the farm, such as for sauce or oven-roasted tomatoes, or strawberries for jam.

We're offering cards in three dollar amounts for you to choose from. And, in each case, if you purchase your card before March 31, 2012, you'll get an additional 10% value added to your card as thanks from us for your continuing support of our small farm.
